2022

The 30th anniversary celebrations are in full swing throughout the year:
- 30 twinning portraits are produced, retracing the history of 30 twinnings that have gone "beyond reading"
- 10 meetings are organized in the form of open houses, conferences, round tables and parent-child workshops, focusing on the issues of diversity and inclusion in education and children's literature.

 

2021

Retirement of Patricia Bossy, Executive Director who developed the organization for 14 years. Transition between the former and the new director, Audrey Archambault.

JAME is celebrating its first 30 years of existence.

 

 

 

2020

Managing the pandemic with a successful digital transition.

Strategic planning to facilitate and plan for the transition to leadership; one-day Shoulder Lake with Board members and tenure team.

 

 

 

2018

JAME is moving to 4400 LaSalle Boulevard! A big change in the life of the organization: more spacious, brighter premises, a separate room for the library, an animation room for our drop-in reading project... Moreover, in September, JAME received the wonderful news of finally being recognized as an educational organization by the Ministère de l'éducation et de l'enseignement supérieur! Years of hard work are paying off!

2015

JAME is one of seven innovative initiatives described in a Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation research report on the education of young Quebecers from immigrant backgrounds.
Strategic planning with the implementation of a three-year action plan; two-day Lac à l'Épaule with members of the Board of Directors, the permanent staff and two founding members of the organisation.

2014

JAME's proximity approach to families is cited as an example in a study conducted by Horizon 0-5 (a regional consultation body) whose aim is to identify "winning strategies" for reaching isolated families.

2012

JAME is hosted by the United Way for recurrent funding to the mission.

2011

Presentation of the Evaluation Report of the JAME programme conducted by the research group of the Faculty of Education of the University of Montreal, under the aegis of Professor Fasal Kanouté.

2010

"Flash mob at Complexe Desjardins: on January 27, 2010, Family Literacy Day, JAME set out to ignite the joy of reading by organizing a gathering in the heart of Montreal.

2006

Hommage-bénévolat Québec award in the "organization in action" category in recognition of the particularly innovative approach and commitment of the volunteers. The award was presented at the Quebec Parliament by the Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity, Michelle Courchesne.

2005

The Constituent Assembly was held on 22 February and the Board of Directors was elected at the first General Assembly held on the same day. The financial year ends on 30 June.

Registration as a charity, a status that allows the issuing of charitable receipts.

2004

Acceptance on November 26 of the letters patent of the non-profit organization by the Registraire des entreprises.

2003-2004

Establishment of a survival committee mandated by 53 volunteers to perpetuate the programme by incorporating it as a NPO.

1999-2003

Successive attachments to the school board's complementary services and then to special education services.

1998

Restructuring of school boards; J'apprends avec mon enfant is integrated as a program in the Commission Scolaire Marguerite-Bourgeoys.

1991

Founding of the home reading program by members of the Sault-Saint-Louis School Board (Adult Education).
